Purchase the right packing supplies
To pack your stuff quickly and to ensure it is protected from damage during transit, you will need to get the right supplies. The right materials are important regardless of whether you are moving within the same city or across the state. If you hire professionals, they will bring the packing supplies themselves. If you are doing it yourself, here is a list of things you should buy in advance.

Close the kitchen first
Prepare to order out for all meals for the day you want to pack. Cooking, heating, and cleaning up is a huge time drain. Close the kitchen and put away your pots and pans so you are not tempted. Pack the china (use bubble wrap) and silverware first, then all the other odds and ends. Give away or consume perishable food items in the days leading up to the move.
Tackle one room at a time
Don’t mix things from one room with another. Just enter one room and start packing till youre done with everything in it before you move to the next one. Label each box as you fill it up and put a list of its contents on top.
Pack wardrobes and closet contents together
Don’t worry about packing clothes and other items separately. Not only does this save packing time, all you need to do is hang them up in the new place and you’re sorted. Don’t pack things you don’t need
Pack only the things you absolutely definitely want to take with you to the new place. Have two large garbage bags on the ready as you tackle each room. Fill them with things to get rid of in the trash and things to donate. Unless you are 100% sure about taking something to the new place, trash or donate it.
The best thing you can do to get things done quickly is to remain calm and give yourself a break after every few hours of packing.
