The Killing of Lily Peters
On April 24, 2022, Iliana Peters, also known as Lily, was raped and killed in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. She was 10 years old at the time.
Her killing gained significant media coverage and attention due to the ages of the victim and the suspect. Two days after the murder, her 14-year-old cousin, Carson Peters Berger was arrested on charges of murder and rape. He was publicly identified only by his initials CPB.
Due to the murder charge, Carson is being tried as an adult. According to the complaint, Carson asked his cousin to take a walk and explore a trail.
Lily took her bike while Carson took his hoverboard. Once they were off the trail, the allegations claim he punched her in the stomach and pushed her to the ground. Then, he hit her in the head three times with a large stick and strangled her. He allegedly raped her dead body.
According to the criminal complaint, he then became scared and fled home where he showered and cleaned his clothes. Afterward, he went back to the place and dragged Lily’s body a few feet. In the end, he covered her body with leaves.
Lily’s father reported Lily missing, and her body was found the following day. Two days later, Carson was arrested and charged with the murder.
Authorities say he confessed and said his plan all along was to kill and rape her. It is being treated as an adult case rather than a juvenile case due to the murder charge. If convicted, he would face life in prison sentence.
Who Is Lauraine Davis?
Lauraine Davis is the mother of the arrested teenager. She and his father, Adam Berger had a brief and disturbing relationship.
Carson’s father was a pedophile, one who was also physically and mentally abusive toward his family. In 2017, Lauraine called the police alleging Adam had tried to harm her by driving his car at her.
Lauraine and Adam did not have a good relationship with Carson as well. His grandmother called Lauraine an awful mother. She said, “We have seen him making the rounds with his mother and he never looks cheerful. He doesn’t grin, he’s generally tranquil and simply takes a gander at the ground and doesn’t talk”.
Davis and Adam got separated when Carson was only two years. Lauraine is now dating another convicted criminal, fraudster John Repetto. She continues living in Chippewa Falls.
Speaking of her criminal history, she has a number of convictions for drug offenses, all dating from no less than two years before her child was convicted.

As we said before, Adam and Lauraine Davis had a tumultuous relationship. Adam was a convicted pedophile. According to charging documents, Berger was caught with 10 pornographic images of young girls in spread-legged positions on his phone. Some of them had been doctored to include comments like “first in ur little girls a***ole and then in ur mouth mom”
Adam spent three years in jail after being found with images of prepubescent girls on his phone. Some pictures showed semi-dressed children, with one of them in a green feather boa and black high heels.
Adam was jailed in May 2018. According to Carson’s grandmother, the boy has been unhappy since and was never seen smiling. Adam, his father, is on supervised probation and is on the sex offender registry.
In one letter, he described his son as “being the best of me”.

Now let’s talk a bit about Lauraine’s son, Carson Peters Berger. He is an American-born high school student. Carson came to the limelight after the accusation of raping and killing Lily Peter, who is actually his cousin.
The infamous teenage boy was arrested on 26th April 2022 for molesting and killing his ten-year-old cousin.
Carson himself comes from a family of criminal convicts as we saw before. The murder incident occurred close to his home.
After his father’s arrest in 2018, the boy’s grandmother Mary revealed he was unhappy. He became very quiet and rarely interacted with people.
But that should not serve as an excuse for his crimes.
Carson’s Trial
Carson Peters-Berger appeared in court for the first time on 27th April 2022. At the trial, he confessed to killing his 10-year-old cousin. Carson suggested to Lily, to explore the woods off the road near Chippewa Falls. He then lured her to the crime scene, where he committed the murder and later rape.
His attorney, Michael Cohen relinquished the suspect’s right to a preliminary hearing, and the judge, Benjamin Lane, found grounds to bind the suspect for further proceedings.
Prosecutors said Carson Berger planned to rape and kill the victim from the get-go when he left the house with the victim.
Chippewa County District Attorney Wade Newell said, “He punched the victim in the stomach, knocked her to the ground, essentially strangled her, hit her with a stick, before strangling her to the point of death, before he then sexually assaulted her”.
Where Is Carson Today?
The court has yet to give a sentence to Carson Peters Berger. Proceedings continue as lawyers present all the witnesses. Carson faces a possible life sentence following the three counts of murder.
He is in jail on a $1 million bond. His case will be heard in August 2023 at the Chippewa County Circuit Court. He will be tried as an adult due to the murder case. Judge Steven Gibbs will preside over the trial.
In the meantime, he remains incarcerated at the Northwest Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
