Born Earl Simmons in December 1970, DMX was an American rapper and actor. He passed away in April 2021.
DMX began rapping in the early 1990s and released his debut album It’s Dark and Hell is Hot in 1998 to critical acclaim and commercial success. He was also featured in movies like Belly, Exit Wounds, Romeo Must Die, Last Hour, Cradle 2 the Grave, and more.

Between 2001 and 2004, he had many troubles with the law. After improving his legal situation, he returned to the studio to complete his fourth album, The Great Depression. But the commercial and critical success was lower than the previous album.
By the end of his career, he switched studious a couple of times and released a few more albums, but none reached the success of his third album.
